Welcome to my blog!
I’ve written my fair share of
posts over the years covering various aspects of sustainability,
primarily focusing on the role of business. My objective with this blog is to
facilitate my – and hopefully others’ – continued learning through observation,
insight and commentary.
During
my tenure as vice president and chief sustainability officer at CA
Technologies, I had the pleasure to lead the strategic planning and execution
of all aspects of CA’s sustainability initiatives. Working with internal and
external stakeholders, team members and employees we were able to drive
significant internal change and improvement, including lowering our GHG
emissions by 25% over 2007 levels. I was very gratified when our efforts
received external validation such as being named 5th out of the top 500 U.S.
companies in Newsweek’s Green Rankings, up from 385 in 2009, and inclusion in
both the North America and World Dow Jones
Sustainability Indexes.
My path to the world
as an active participant in sustainability was akin to a slow burn. It was
always part of my personal life – most notably with the design and construction of my home outside of Boston, one of the
region’s first gold LEEDcertified residences. I learned a tremendous
amount during that process that I decided to bring together my personal
passion with my professional experience. I’m a marketer with experience at four
multinational
corporations; strategy and new market development is what I do. Doing the same through the lens of sustainability is what gets me jazzed.
